To Mcfry Dawson & Co – Bankers
Dr. J. Benjamin
Dear Doctor,
Mr. Case’s letter to me dated August 1st is
rather discouraging after telling of 100 acres of wheat to be cut and not much
help. Has notified me that he wishes to
leave thirty days from his dated letter.
I trust he will do no rash act. I
wish you to go over at look at matters immediately and help him with the harvest
in securing every bushel of grain and I send one order for you to send to Dawson
& Co. St. Paul to raise money for Mr. A. ___’s note to pay off the kind
help etc. , if you have not sold already the oxen for that purpose.
Will you see, Doctor, that my affairs do not suffer and in
case Mr. Case is to leave 1st of September will you manage or will you
encourage him to stay till I return? If
things can’t go straight without me I shall come immediately on hearing from
you.
Would it not be well to thrash all the grain right from the
field without stocking? We have Tom
Teasing and we could get plenty of others &to do it up double quick.
Please write me immediately.
Taking over the Larson directly to Nantucket Massachusetts. Tell me in full the situation. I shall not return to M. till October unless
my immediate services are required there.
Set everything managed most economically. If you need any assistance call on the
Higginses and Daniel Adams.
Write early and tell particulars. I trust the church is flourishing.
Asa B. Hutchinson
